Is This Offensive?

Political correctness gone mad!!!
This classic painting has been taken down in a knee-jerk reaction by Manchester Gallery UK.
The grounds - the girls in the paining are "Too Young"

Excuse me Manchester Gallery, where are your art historians?
In this painting called "Hylays & The Water Nymphs" by John William Waterhouse, there is only one artist model painted several times to look like a groups of murderous water nymphs.
The woman who was painted several times in it, is a well known Victorian era artist's model, Lizzy Siddel, the wife of Gabriel Danté Rossetti, one of Waterhouse's best friends. She was in he late 20s at this time. She is portrayed in many Pre-Raphaelite artworks. She died at 36.

She was a professional nude artist model. Very riské for those days and she was an artist herself too - She also painted herself nude.

The fact that she was a mature woman is not really a secret. It is all over the internet. Here's a link to more information about her:

An additional irony is that this is a Pre-Raphaelites painting. The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood  was a group of English painters, poets, and critics, founded in 1848. They defined themselves as a reform movement, created a distinct name for their form of art, and published a periodical. In particular Pre-Raphaelites opposed the corrupting influences on the academic teaching of art.

Tragic. This shows how stupid our over politically correct society is when it listens to the noisy minority. They want to re-wite history with out learning about it first..
Where does it end?
Will we be burning books next?
